[ARCHIVED] City of Rifle Summer Construction Update (7/15/19)

Summer Construction Update (7-15-19)

The 2019 Waterline Project is replacing the raw water main that feeds the entire city. The current main is in bad condition and this replacement is critical to ensuring we keep water to the city at all times. The raw water main in Highway 6 has been completed. Johnson Construction is currently placing the shoulder on the side of the new asphalt which means the traffic lights and traffic control are scheduled to be taken down this week.

The Centennial Parkway project is installing new utilities, landscaping and streets at the entrance of downtown Rifle. All utilities have been installed and West Avenue is being paved today, 7/15/19. There is striping to be completed on West Avenue, but the street is expected to be opened this week. There will still be construction and one-lane traffic, but after this week there should be no more closures to West Avenue.

There are big plans for maintenance throughout the city for the remainder of 2019. All streets were surveyed this spring and streets in need of repair are being addressed. Whiteriver Avenue is being resurfaced from 1st Street to 4th Street and the intersection of Whiteriver and 3rd Street is being smoothed out. Potholes on Tripp Ave, Birch Ave, Fairway Avenue, East Avenue and Dakota Court are being removed and replaced. Large portions of Firethorn Drive and all of 24th Place are being removed, replaced and re-striped.

Projects being performed by others in Rifle are ongoing. The Dominion Gas Pipeline work is expected to continue above Deerfield Park. Excel gas work is complete at West 3rd Street and they will be pavement milling one lane of West 3rd Street.
