Final images for the Rifle Art Dague Pool Renovation project were recently completed by Jeff Johnson Architectural. The images show amenities that are included in the project. Image colors are as close to selected material colors as possible, but slight variations are to be expected.
In preparation for the upcoming construction project, Parks and Recreation staff will host a public reception at the Ute Theater on Thursday, August 8th at 6:30 in the evening.
The event will be a celebration of the history of the pool. The existence of Metro Park and the pool was due to the efforts of volunteers and collaboration of community members. It is important to gather history and acknowledge those who contributed. This should be a fun event where we can pass the microphone, hear some history about the pool, and hear stories from people who were involved with the pool through the years.
We are hoping to gather former employees, former Metro Park District Board members, and /or their family members, and anyone who has fond memories of days at the pool. We’ll also briefly discuss the new pool. Hors d’oeuvres will be available and Ute concessions will be open. Please come and join us for a fun evening.
Please, if you have photos that you believe have a historical value related to the Metro Park District and the Metro Pool, and you’d allow us to reproduce them, please notify me at 970-665-6489, or drop them off at the Recreation Department at City Hall.
The last day for the current Art Dague Pool to be open is Friday, August 9th.
Groundbreaking for the Pool Renovation Project will be at 1:15 p.m., in the shade of the trees between the pool and Rifle P.D., just off of 18th Street.
Following the final day on August 9th, pool staff will clear out the bathhouse building on the 10th and 11th, and demolition of the site will begin on Monday, August 12. City O & M, Parks and Recreation, and Grounds and Facilities staff will be responsible for a large portion of the site demolition. Following the City’s demolition work, the General Contractor, FCI, will take over the site and begin their work. The plan is to construct the pool fall/winter/spring and be ready to open the new facility for the Memorial Day weekend in 2020.
Congratulations on your new pool, Rifle!
