Rifle Police Department hosted its first annual National Night Out.
The 2009 National Night Out occurred on August 4th, at the Art Dague Pool in Metro Park.
Though this year was the "26th Annual National Night Out" (NNO), it was the first year that the Rifle Police Department participated in the event. The program is a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW).
National Night Out is designed to:
Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
For our 1st year, we felt it was pretty successful.
Here are some highlights:
An overview of part of the activities.
Officer Wride interacting with some children.
For a canned food donation individuals got a chance to "Dunk-A-Cop"
Officer Flaten graciously volunteered to be that Officer.
Even the little ones got in on the act...
Although sometimes they needed some help.
There was even a "Swim In Movie" at the Art Dague Pool and Slide.
The Rifle Fire Department came and hosted a Teddy Bear Clinic.
