Serves as the legislative and governing body. The City Council sets policy, enacts laws, adopts a budget.
To vote in City of Rifle elections, you must be a citizen of the United States, be at least 18 years of age on or before the election, have resided in the city limits of Rifle at least 22 days before the election, and have registered to vote.
Is responsible for implementing policies adopted by the City Council, for preparing and submitting the annual budget, and for administering the day-to-day operations of the City.
Acts as support staff to City Council, records custodian, election official, and the administrator for liquor & marijuana business licensing.
Responsible for resolving traffic violations, criminal misdemeanors, park violations, and Town Ordinances which include animal violations, excessive noise, code violations, etc.

The Planning & Zoning Commission is an advisory board to the City Council regarding all planning and development issues, as well recommending amendments to the Zoning Map of the City and appropriate zoning classifications for all annexations to the City.
Formed in conjunction with the passage of the Penny Sales Tax. PRAB acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council in all matters pertaining to parks & recreation.
Formed as a result of a lodging tax, makes recommendations to the City Council on the use of the Visitor Improvements Fund. Designated for the development and marketing of visitor improvements & attractions, special events, beautification projects, historic preservation, and the general promotion of the City.
Funded by property taxes imposed upon the properties within the DDA district, it works to improve the downtown area in Rifle.
