Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, "PRAB", Vacancy...

We are soliciting applications from candidates interested in serving as the "Alternate Member" of the PRAB.
The Alternate Member votes in the absence of appointed regular advisory board members.  This member would currently serve a two year term expiring in 2017 and is then eligible to serve another 3 year term.  The Alternate Member frequently is appointed as a regular member when a regular member vacates a board seat.  This is a City Council appointed position.

To apply, contact Tom Whitmore at
or call 970-665-6480.
Applications must be received by Monday, February 9th, 2015 by 5:00 p.m.

Guess what!

The City of Rifle was awarded a $350,000.00 grant from Garfield County Federal Mineral Lease District for Deerfield Regional Park Phase I improvements.
Here’s what we’re planning on:
The awarded grant for Deerfield Phase I includes amenities to complete Cooper Baseball Field facility at Deerfield Regional Park in Rifle. This project is planned to include a two-story building that will house a concession stand, restrooms, and press box. The project also includes elevated, ADA-accessible, bleacher seating for up to 600, utilities infrastructure to the concession building, ground water drainage for the area, and is highlighted with a plaza area complete with a sports-themed decorative concrete plaza with seat walls and landscaping.
This plan provides a long-term facility improvement to a park that hosts nearly 1000 user events and hosts thousands of players, parents, grandparents and guests during the spring to fall sports seasons.
The project will benefit the Rifle community as well area communities in the area by providing one of the most spectator-friendly, complete, baseball venues, between Denver and Grand Junction along the I-70 corridor.

Thank you Garfield County Federal Mineral Lease District!

Garfield RE-2 School District is a Partner in this grant, providing $650,000
Additional funding was privided by the Conservation Trust Fund, the Parkland Dedication fund, and Rifle Parks and Recreation.

Centennial Park, has been the recipient of three prestigious awards: 2011 Starburst Award from Colorado Lottery, 2011 CPRA Columbine Award for Park Design and 2011 Downtown Colorado Inc. Award for Best Downtown Park. This park has been the venue for multiple new events in Rifle, including the very successful 2011 Centennial Concert Series, 2011 Fall Festival and 2011 Tree Lighting Ceremony as well as many other private entity events.
