Bring a blank DVD+R or DVD-R (Sony / Maxell / Memorex / TDK) to Cable 10 office in City Hall and leave in drop-off basket with your name, phone number, and program requested. VHS tapes can be used as well, but DVDs are preferred.

2. How do I get an announcement on Cable 10?

Any non-profit entity can fax it to 665-6402 or drop it off at the Channel 10 office in City Hall.

3. How long does an announcement run?

4. What kinds of announcements do not qualify?

A potential candidate may begin raising funds at any time after filing designation of a campaign treasurer and bank designation with the City Clerk. The campaign account must be separate from any personal accounts and used only for depositing campaign funds and making campaign expenditures.

1. How do I contact a police officer?

If it is not an emergency, call our dispatch center at (970) 625-8095. For emergencies dial 911. You may call the Rifle Police Department during normal business hours M-F 8 am to 5 pm, at (970) 665-6500.

2. How do I obtain a police report?

You may come to the Rifle Police Department, 201 E. 18th St, between 8 am and 5 pm Monday- Friday and complete a records request form with the records clerk. Be ready to show a photo ID and pay a fee of $ .25 cents per page (plus $15.00 / hr research fee if applicable). For accident reports you may also go online at www.docview.us.com. NOT all records are public records and therefore NOT all records may be released.

3. Where do I pay my parking ticket fine?

6. My employer requires me to obtain finger prints. How can I get my finger prints taken?

Finger prints may be obtained at the Rifle Police Department M-F 8 am to 5 pm (excluding holidays) as staff is available. You will be required to bring with you an employer issued finger print card and photo identification.

There is a fee of $10 for Rifle residents.
There is a fee of $20 for non-residents.

7. How can I get a copy of my criminal record?

If you have been contacted by Rifle Police, you may obtain a summary of your contacts with Rifle Police. The summary will list the dates and reasons for contact. The summary will not include other agency contacts. Fees apply.

To obtain a complete statewide criminal history, go to the CBI web site at www.cbirecordscheck.com/criminalhistory and follow the directions. There is a fee for the service.

8. What are the fees for police services?

9. How to obtain a driving record?

You may request your driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles. The nearest location is in the Glenwood Springs Mall.

10. Where can I pay a penalty assessment ticket or parking ticket issued by the Rifle Police Department?

Penalty assessment and parking tickets can be paid:
• By going to the Rifle Municipal Court at 201 E. 18th St, during normal business hours 8 am to 5 pm.
• By mailing the payment to the address on the penalty assessment ticket.
• By leaving it in the afterhours drop box at:
The Rifle Criminal Justice Center, 201 E. 18th St (near main entrance).

Checks, cash or money orders are accepted.

11. What can I do about my noisy neighbors?

The Rifle Municipal Code defines a Noise Disturbance as any sound which poses a threat of danger to the health or safety of humans or animals, annoys or disturbs a reasonable person of normal sensibilities or injures personal or real property. Contact the Rifle Police Department through dispatch at (970)-625-8095 for an officer.

12. What are regulations on construction-related noise?

No person shall create or permit the creating of any construction noise between the hours of 9 pm and 7 am in or within two hundred feet of a residential zone area. This provision shall not prohibit outdoor construction noise created by travel upon public streets and highways, and emergency work by the city, its agents and contractors or any public utility.

13. What should I do if I’ve been involved in a traffic collision?

All crashes must be reported no matter how minor the damage, even on private property. First, ensure that no one is injured. Write down the location where the traffic collision occurred, the other vehicle’s license plate number and brief description of the vehicle. Call dispatch (970)-625-8095 or 911 to activate emergency services. If no one is injured all drivers should begin to exchange information: the information on their driver’s license including name, address, phone numbers, vehicle information, insurance information.

14. How can I get my car out of impound?

The registered owner of the vehicle must come to the Rifle Police Department with the following information:
• Photo Identification.
• Proof of valid insurance.
• A person with a valid driver’s license.
• Proof of ownership.
• Current registration.

15. How can I report an abandoned vehicle on public street or private property?

You may contact an officer through dispatch (970)-625-8095, or at the Rifle Police Department (970)-665-6500.
On a public street:
• An officer may issue a parking citation.
• The officer may return after a 72-hour period.
• If the vehicle has not moved the vehicle may be impounded.
On private property:
• Contact a private tow company that will tow from private property.

16. How can I contest a traffic citation?

You may contest it by going to the court you were cited to (listed on the citation), on the date and time listed on the citation.

17. I lost my citation/summons – What do I do?

You need to contact the Rifle Municipal Court, 201 E. 18th St, 970-665-6420 or Garfield County Court, 200 E. 18th St, 970-625-5100, for information to resolve your ticket.

18. I have a question regarding my traffic citation- Who do I ask?

You may speak to a police officer or contact the court to which you were cited.

19. How do I find out about registered sex offenders residing in Rifle?

You can request the information during normal business hours, M-F 9am to 4pm, at the Rifle Police Department. You may be asked to sign a disclaimer form and show proper identification.

Additional sex offender information may be obtained from Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) website.

21. Rifle Animal Shelter

The City of Rifle Animal Shelter is located at, 569 Co Rd 265 directly across from Rifle High School, and their phone number is, 970-625-8808.

The Rifle Animal Shelter is open from 8-2 Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8-5 Wednesday and Friday and Saturday and Sunday from 8-1. Please call and let us know when you will be coming during the week. We are not always available like we wish we were. It’s very important that you call and tell us you are coming. We may not be at the shelter if you don’t call. Please leave a message if we don’t answer. We are often busy and can not get to the phone. Someone is always at the shelter on the weekends from 8-1. We are closed on major holidays.

The Rifle Animal Shelter houses dogs that have been abandoned, abused, impounded or turned over to the Rifle Police Department. The shelter is operated by two part-time employee and numerous volunteers.

The Rifle Police Department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year.

The Records Division is open Monday - Friday, 8 am until 5 pm except Holidays.

1. How do I report a street light out?

Please call Xcel Energy at 1 (800) 895-1999 with the location of the street light.
It is very helpful to Xcel if you have the nameplate information from the street light. Xcel identifies all lights with a tag.

3. Why wasn't all my trash picked up?

All your trash must fit in the City designated trash can. The trash must be at the curb by 7am. If you did these things and your trash was still left behind, call (970) 665-6440 to reschedule your pick up.

4. Why wasn't my street plowed?

The snow plow drivers start with the high priority areas. Please refer to the Snow Plow Priority Route Map located on the O & M home page

5. How do I get a bigger trash can?

Call the City of Rifle Utility Billing at 665-6440 to request a larger trash can.

6. Does the City do alley maintenance?

The Operations and Maintenance Deepartment does alley maintenance twice a year, in March and September. We grade the alleys smooth, create proper drainage and add gravel as needed. If you need to report an alley for immediate maintenance, please report it to the O & M Department
